DuraFlex Chimney Inspection in Long Beach: What to Know First
We inspect, diagnose, and repair DuraFlex chimney systems throughout Long Beach, and a standard inspection with a written report typically takes 45 to 90 minutes on site. You’ll know the price before we touch anything because we put every quote in writing ahead of the work. If your DuraFlex liner is fine, we’ll tell you that straight and charge you for the inspection only, not for work you don’t need.
This page is for Long Beach homeowners who already have a DuraFlex liner or are considering one and want a straight answer about what an inspection actually covers. If you’re holding a home inspection report that flagged the chimney, or you haven’t had the flue looked at in years, this is where you’ll get specifics. Call (562) 317-7262 and we’ll schedule a time that works for you.
How DuraFlex Products Fail – and How We Fix Them
DuraFlex makes solid products. We install them. But every liner system has weak points, and knowing what those are on a DuraFlex job is the difference between a real diagnosis and a guess. Here are the failure modes we actually see in Long Beach homes.
- Corrugation creasing at the offset bends. DuraFlex’s 316L alloy flex liner is tough, but when an installer forces it through a tight smoke-shelf offset or a steep transition, the corrugations can crease and develop micro-cracks at the bend points. We see this most on two-story Long Beach homes where the flue takes a hard turn. The fix is a sectional replacement of the affected run, not a full reline unless the cracking has spread.
- Condensate pooling at the tee base on DuraFlex 304 liners. The 304-grade stainless line is rated for gas, but Long Beach’s coastal moisture and cool morning air mean more condensation inside the flue than you’d get inland. Over time that acidic condensate sits at the tee base and eats pinholes through the liner wall. Our camera inspection catches this early, before it becomes a carbon monoxide pathway into the house.
- Clamp-gap leaks where DuraFlex sections join. DuraFlex uses a male-female slip joint with a gear clamp at each connection. If the original installer under-torqued a clamp or the flue shifted during an earthquake, you get a small gap that leaks flue gas into the chimney cavity. This is one of the most common findings on our Level 2 inspections in Long Beach. The fix is straightforward: we reseat the joint, replace the clamp, and test.
- Warped rain cap on the DuraFlex cap assembly. The stainless mesh and cap take direct sun and salt air in Long Beach. The mesh on older DuraFlex caps gets brittle and tears, which lets birds and debris in. The cap lip warps and stops shedding rain properly. We stock replacement caps and can usually swap one out during the inspection if you want it done the same day.
- Crushed liner wall from amateur sweeping. Some sweeps use steel wire brushes too aggressive for a 316L flex liner, especially the thinner .005-inch wall profile on certain DuraFlex residential runs. That scoring weakens the liner and shortens its life. We use poly brushes sized to the liner diameter and documented in our inspection report, so you know exactly what was done inside the flue.

Our DuraFlex Chimney Inspection Process
Here’s how a DuraFlex job goes from the first call to the final report. No surprises, no scope creep.
- 1
Call and scheduling. You talk to a live person. We book a window and the tech arrives in a marked vehicle, uniformed and background-checked.
- 2
Visual sweep of the exterior. We check the cap assembly, crown, flashing, and brick or chase condition. On Long Beach properties near the water, we’re looking specifically for salt-driven mortar erosion and rust at the cap base.
- 3
Camera inspection of the DuraFlex liner. A push camera goes down the full length of the flue. We’re looking at the joint clamps, the corrugation profile at any bends, scoring on the wall, and pitting or creasing. You see the footage. We don’t describe a problem you can’t verify.
- 4
Findings report and written quote. If the liner is sound, the report says so. If there’s a problem, we explain it in plain terms and give you a written price for the fix before anything else happens. No verbal ballpark that changes at the truck.
- 5
Repair, if you approve it. We use OEM DuraFlex parts when the warranty requires it. For out-of-warranty repairs where an aftermarket part does the same job for less, we tell you both options and let you choose.
- 6
Cleanup, test, and guarantee. We leave the workspace the way we found it, run a draft test, and hand you a written report. Every repair carries the 365-Day Done Right Promise: if a covered repair fails within one year, we return free of charge.
What DuraFlex Chimney Inspection Costs in Long Beach
Here are real numbers, because you shouldn’t have to call just to find out what the ballpark is.
- Level 1 inspection (no camera): $149 – $199, typical for a routine annual check when nothing has changed with the system.
- Level 2 inspection with full camera run: $249 – $399. This is the one we recommend for DuraFlex owners, because the liner’s failure points are internal and a visual-only check misses them.
- Level 3 inspection (involves opening a wall or chase): $800 – $2,500 depending on access. This is rare and only done when a Level 2 camera run shows damage we can’t reach any other way.
- Liner repair (sectional clamp or joint fix): $200 – $650, depending on how long the affected section is and how deep it sits in the flue.
- Full DuraFlex reline (if the liner is beyond repair): $2,800 – $6,500 depending on flue height, diameter, and access. We’ll always show you the camera footage before recommending this.
What moves the price: roof pitch and height, how tight the access is, whether the liner diameter is a common size or something we need to order, and whether Long Beach’s coastal corrosion has spread beyond one section. Estimates are free, and the number we write down is the number you pay. Call (562) 317-7262 for an exact quote.

AfterWhy Long Beach Homeowners Call Flint Chimney Co Long Beach for DuraFlex Work
Hank Delano founded this company on the idea that a chimney report should be straight, written, and backed up. We’re part of the Garrison Partners family, which has been in business since 2002, and we run every job under the same Garrison Standard: written price first, documented findings, and a one-year guarantee on repairs. If something we fixed fails within that year, we come back and make it right at no charge. That’s the whole point of the guarantee, and we put it in writing.
Our technicians work with the full range of chimney trade products, and that matters when you have a DuraFlex liner. We also service and install HeatShield and Gelco systems, so if your inspection shows the DuraFlex liner is beyond saving, we can walk you through realistic alternatives instead of just pushing one brand. You’ll get a recommendation based on your flue and your Long Beach conditions, not on what’s easiest to stock.
We’re an independent DuraFlex service provider. We’re not affiliated with or authorized by the manufacturer, which means our only loyalty is to what the camera shows inside your chimney. Clean flue, honest report – that’s the whole job.
FAQs
We handle DuraFlex warranty claims as an independent service provider, but the warranty sits between you and DuraFlex. What we do is document every finding with camera footage and a written report detailed enough to support a legitimate warranty claim, and we use OEM DuraFlex parts on any repair where the warranty is still active. If you’re within the warranty period, we’ll help you file the claim with the right documentation.
Once a year, same as any chimney, but the coastal moisture and salt air in Long Beach make condensation damage a real factor for metal liners. Homes within a mile or two of the water should stay on the annual schedule without skipping years. Gas appliances burning daily put more acidic condensate through the liner than occasional wood fires do, so if you have a gas insert or furnace venting through the DuraFlex, don’t stretch the interval past 12 months.
Yes, and we’d rather do that when it’s safe. Joint leaks, single-section creasing, and clamp failures are repairable with sectional work. When the liner wall itself is perforated in multiple places or the corrugations have collapsed at a bend, repairs become patchwork that won’t hold, and at that point relining is the honest answer. We show you the camera footage either way and give you a written price for both options when both are viable, so the decision is yours.
Most inspections in Long Beach are scheduled within three to five business days of the call, sometimes sooner depending on what part of the city you’re in. We run calls in Belmont Heights, Naples, Bixby Knolls, and the surrounding neighborhoods regularly, so scheduling is usually fast. If you’re under a real estate contract with a deadline, tell the person on the phone and we’ll work with the timeline. Call (562) 317-7262 and we’ll get you on the schedule.
Then the report says “liner is fine” and you pay for the inspection, nothing more. Hank Delano built this company on not inflating scope. If the flue is clean, the joints are tight, and the liner walls show no scoring or pitting, we’ll tell you that in writing and send you on your way. We’d rather earn your next inspection and your neighbor’s referral than sell you a repair you don’t need today.
